Speaker and Delegate – World Forum for Democracy, Council of Europe (Strasbourg, 2024)
Dr. Saad Boulahnane was a youth delegate (representative of Morocco) in the World Forum for Democracy at the Council of Europe. Alongside attending plenaries and labs on the role of education in democratic societies, he delivered a speech in the Council of Europe’s hemicycle during the plenary “Education – Reproducing or Bridging Inequalities?”. In his remarks, Dr. Boulahnane emphasized that democratic education not only equips citizens with civic values but also helps prevent fundamentalism and extremism—dangers that often stem from systems lacking critical thinking. He further argued that Europe must support democratic education globally, since undemocratic schooling in some African countries can impact not only those countries but also Europe through migration.
